Overdoses are now the fourth leading cause of death in Kansas City. More than half of those were due to fentanyl. Young people in Kansas City are especially at risk of accidental overdose. We’re letting three victims of fentanyl overdose share their stories in the hope that we can help those at risk of a similar fate.

7 out of 10 counterfeit pills contain fentanyl and it only takes the amount of a few grains of sand to kill you.

Fentanyl is an opioid that’s added to other substances to make them cheaper, more powerful, and more addictive. It’s been found in everything from fake Adderall to Xanax.

The only person you can trust for a safe pill is a pharmacist.

Stop An
Overdose.

Naloxone is the best way to prevent death from an overdose. It’s safe to use even if you’re not sure if someone is overdosing and it’s as simple to use as a nasal spray.

Carry it
just in case.

You can’t use naloxone on yourself, but having it on hand means you can step in when there is an emergency.
